Two weeks following its Aug. 31 close, Music City’s Belmont University has offered facts and reflections regarding the six-week-long world premiere run of “Dolly: A True Original Musical.”<\/p>\n

Overall, the 49-performance run drew more than 77,900 attendees to the university’s 1,727-seat capacity Fisher Center in downtown Nashville.<\/p>\n

Next year, the show will open on Broadway in New York City.<\/p>\n

“As we continue to workshop our musical for Broadway, I am excited to know that the Belmont University Dolly U partnership will continue, with students playing a part in the next step of our journey, just as they did for our Nashville premiere,” Dolly Parton said.<\/p>\n

Nine Belmont students selected to participate in the inaugural “Dolly U” Fellowship Program were employed full-time in production-related roles during the musical’s run. Other students supported front-of-house operations and contributed to backstage responsibilities, including constructing the set over a five-week build inside the Fisher Center.<\/p>\n

In January<\/a>, when Parton announced her musical’s premiere, she also announced “Dolly U” as an “immersive educational experience that will begin with a focus on creating the musical\u2019s world premiere,” presented by Parton, “Dolly: An Original Musical,” CTK Enterprises and Belmont University.<\/p>\n
