Logan Gennaro snagged a pass in the middle of the field, ducked a tackle and raced his way to the end zone, diving for the goal line to give Hazleton Area a quick lead on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs continued their strong start to the season by answering that early deficit with seven straight touchdowns to take down the Cougars 48-6 at Harman Geist Stadium.<\/p>\n
Once again it was running back Ty\u2019Meere Wilkerson leading the way to push Berwick to 4-0 on the season. Wilkerson added four more touchdowns on the ground, coming up with the Dawgs\u2019 first three scores of the night.<\/p>\n
On the first, the senior took a pitch 23 yards off right tackle, beating everyone to the corner to score. He took a burst 57 yards for the second touchdown and the third came on a 2-yard plunge up the middle on fourth down. That made it 21-6 at halftime.<\/p>\n
Later on, Wilkerson polished off another huge night with a 69-yard touchdown run.<\/p>\n
Also coming through for the Dawgs was Ashton Smith, who threw a 41-yard touchdown to Alex Estrella on a fake punt and also ran one in himself in the second half from 46 yards out.<\/p>\n
Gavin Galutia added a 9-yard touchdown run in the win.<\/p>\n
Freddy Corrado connected with Gennaro for 30 yards on the opening score for the Cougars (1-3).<\/p>\n
CRESTWOOD 49, WESTERN WAYNE 7<\/p>\n
Quarterback Jaden Shedlock figured in on all five of his team\u2019s first-half touchdowns, and the Comets steamrolled the Wildcats for a non-conference win on the road.<\/p>\n
Shedlock got it done with his arm and his legs, leading Crestwood to four touchdowns in the first quarter alone.<\/p>\n
After opening the scoring with a 1-yard plunge, Shedlock then found Jack Rodgers for a pair of touchdowns from 50 and 21 yards out.<\/p>\n
The senior made it 28-0 on a 4-yard run and then extended the lead to 35-0 before halftime when he found Giovanni Barna for a 12-yard score.<\/p>\n
The Comets (2-2) found the end zone twice more in the fourth quarter as Amias Ocasio and Teddy Taylor added touchdown runs of 6 and 9 yards, respectively.<\/p>\n
Western Wayne (1-3) got its lone score in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by Jake Grodack.<\/p>\n
HOLY REDEEMER 27, SUSQUEHANNA 20<\/p>\n
The Royals\u2019 drought is officially over.<\/p>\n
Brady McDermott threw four touchdown passes as Holy Redeemer ruined Susquehanna\u2019s annual night game under portable lights and broke its 24-game losing streak. It was the Royals\u2019 first win since beating Montrose 34-12 on Oct. 29, 2022.<\/p>\n
After opening their first season under coach Vito Quaglia with losses to Nativity BVM (36-0) and Tunkhannock (55-7), the Royals (1-3) came up with a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter of last Saturday\u2019s 46-13 loss to Carbondale.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s little progress, but it\u2019s progress,\u201d Quaglia said after that game. \u201cWe\u2019re not going backwards. It\u2019s just going to take time.\u201d<\/p>\n
That time turned out to be Friday.<\/p>\n
The Royals took a 19-6 halftime lead on the first three McDermott touchdown passes.<\/p>\n
Ryder Hobart ran for two touchdowns and a two-point conversion, putting Susquehanna ahead 20-19 in the first minute of the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n
McDermott came back with a 5-yard touchdown pass and two-pointer to Kaden Sepkoski.<\/p>\n
Mike Zbierski\u2019s interception near midfield on the game\u2019s final play preserved the victory.<\/p>\n
Susquehanna fell to 0-4.<\/p>\n
