Meet voice actor Jim Cummings from \u2018Winnie-the-Pooh\u2019 at Las Vegas art expo<\/p>\n
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) \u2014 Legendary voice actor Jim Cummings stopped by\u00a0Las Vegas Now\u00a0ahead of his appearance at the Amazing Art Expo at the Plaza Hotel.<\/p>\n
Known as the man of \u201c1,500 voices,\u201d Cummings has brought to life some of the most beloved characters, including Winnie-the-Pooh and Tigger.<\/p>\n
Cummings revealed that his journey to become Winnie the Pooh began as a kid.<\/p>\n
\u201cI used to jokingly do Winnie the Pooh when I was like 12 or 13 years old playing Monopoly\u2026 And monkey art paid off,\u201d Cummings said.<\/p>\n
His first paid voice gig came in San Diego\u00a0for a local shop, and since then, he has voiced everything from movie trailers to villains like \u2018Steele in Steven Spielberg\u2019s\u00a0\u2018Balto.\u2019\u00a0 Working alongside Kevin Bacon in \u2018Balto\u2019 also gave him a winning edge in the classic game \u2018Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.\u2019<\/p>\n
8 News Now reporter JC Fernandez asked Cummings where his inspiration comes from when doing a new character\u2019 voice. Cummings said, \u201cYou get clues\u2026 A guy that weighs 500 pounds isn\u2019t going to sound like this\u2026,\u201d Cummings then went to a high-pitched voice, saying that sometimes giving a surprising voice makes a character memorable.<\/p>\n
Cummings also revealed that when he was a kid, he used to call his school and cover for his buddies who might have skipped class on a certain day. Cummings said he would pretend to be someone\u2019s parents.<\/p>\n
Outside of voicing classic characters like Pooh & Tigge,r fans might recognize his voice from EDM festivals like Tomorrowland and Untiy.<\/p>\n
Cummings will be meeting fans and signing autographs at the Amazing Art Expo at the Plaza Hotel this weekend.<\/p>\n
