On most evenings when I\u2019m trying to unwind, watching a good movie is at the top of my list. My Letterboxd account is filled with real-life documentation of my attempts to watch something good, bad, or extremely average. While I\u2019m usually successful in finding something that interests and entertains me, scouring through all the options is not for the faint of heart\u2014especially when you\u2019re committing to a 90-minute film. But after a long and binge-worthy summer, I\u2019ve finally compiled a list of five movies I\u2019m recommending to everyone this fall. Whether you\u2019re a horror movie fanatic or prefer something lighthearted, this list has something for everyone.<\/p>\n
I don\u2019t know about you, but comedic thrillers are at the top of my list of favorite movie genres. Borderline stars Ray Nicholson playing a sociopathic romantic who, upon escaping from prison, breaks into the home of his favorite \u201890s popstar, played by Samara Weaving. Nicholson puts Weaving through a series of trials and tribulations\u2014and although he wants to be loved by her, she\u2019s just trying to survive. If you\u2019re not a huge fan of horror movies but still enjoy being on edge, Borderline deserves a spot on your fall watchlist.<\/p>\n
Where to watch<\/strong>: Amazon Prime<\/p>\n Despite its name, this one might leave you feeling unsettled in the best way possible. Friendship follows Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd as they meet and become close acquaintances. But what starts as friendship soon becomes an unexpected obsession, and the more Rudd pulls away, the more Robinson keeps reaching. You won\u2019t want to miss this one!<\/p>\n Where to watch<\/strong>: HBOMax<\/p>\n For those who prefer a heartwarming story, this one\u2019s for you. Bob Trevino Likes It is a story about friendship, connection, and chosen family. When Lily Trevino\u2014played by Euphoria\u2019s Barbie Ferreira\u2014connects with an online stranger with the same name as her toxic, estranged father, she wonders if it might be him. But after her friend request is accepted, what grows is an unlikely friendship that might just save her life.<\/p>\n Where to watch<\/strong>: Hulu<\/p>\n You\u2019ve probably heard about Weapons more times than you can count, and for good reason. Weapons is a story about one mysterious night where children from the same classroom all leave the house at the exact same time\u2014and never return. Although the local community is determined to blame their teacher, what comes to be is a much more sinister and powerful entity that can\u2019t be escaped.<\/p>\n Where to watch<\/strong>: Google Play<\/p>\n Another lighthearted\u2014yet serious\u2014film to enjoy this fall? Turtles All the Way Down. Originally a novel by John Green, Turtles All the Way Down follows Aza, a high school-aged girl who struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
