The conversation eventually turned to Gomez\u2019s Rare Beauty brand and the easily accessible packaging they use for all their products, as well as how Gomez\u2019s own health challenges played a part.<\/p>\n \u201cI have arthritis in my fingers, and that\u2019s due to my lupus,\u201d she revealed. \u201cSo, I remember, before the brand, I was trying to open a water bottle, and it hurt really bad, before I was on the right medication.\u201d<\/p>\n Gomez went on to share that her Rare Beauty team \u201cinherently made the products easy to open\u201d before realizing that it was actually a necessity.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then we started to make every product with the intention of anybody who has dexterity problems,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n What Gomez described is a common complication of lupus\u2014but it\u2019s similar to a more common condition known as osteoarthritis<\/a>. This occurs due to the protective cartilage in joints gradually breaking down, which may lead to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. In other words, it\u2019s wear and tear on the joints over time.<\/p>\n\n
