If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then The View<\/a><\/em> must be feeling very flattered these days. Since the ABC<\/a> panel talk show debuted in 1997, countless copycats have come and gone \u2014 including the not-so-fabulous FABLife<\/a><\/em> that premiered 10 years ago, on September 14, 2015.<\/p>\n Now we\u2019re rounding up our selections for The View<\/em>\u2019s worst imitators, even the ones that turned out well. They\u2019re listed below \u2014 from the derivative but still successful, to the unique but short-lived, to the derivative and<\/em> short-lived!<\/p>\n It\u2019s hard to tell what, if anything, separated it from The View<\/em>, but unlike so many imitators on this list, The Talk<\/a><\/em> actually walked the walk<\/a>. In fact, midway through the CBS<\/a> show\u2019s 15-season run, it beat The View<\/em> to win the 2016 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment.<\/p>\n Also Daytime Emmy-validated is this syndicated production, whose talent won the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host award in 2018. With hosts like Adrienne Houghton<\/a>, Jeannie Mai<\/a>, and Loni Love<\/a>, The Real<\/a><\/em> featured \u201cdiverse and outspoken hosts [who] unapologetically say what women are actually thinking,\u201d as a press release touted.<\/p>\n Yes, we have another daytime panel show, but at least this one had a niche. True to its name, the VH1<\/a> show featured showbiz reporters and bloggers spilling celebrity tea. Infamous tattler Perez Hilton<\/a> was set to join the panel for its third season, as Deadline<\/a> reported, but VH1 canceled the show less than a month after his casting.<\/p>\n This daytime panel show boasted View<\/em> DNA through executive producer Bill Geddie<\/a>, who was The View<\/em>\u2019s co-creator and longtime EP. Four preachers emceed the show and chatted about pop culture, news, and spirituality. \u201cAfter The View<\/em>, I figured I\u2019d never do another panel show, but these preachers knocked me off my feet,\u201d Geddie said, per Deadline<\/a>. \u201cThey have a unique spiritual take on things, and they\u2019re funny as hell\u2026 I mean, heck!\u201d<\/p>\n Before Loni Love joined The Real<\/em> and Michelle Collins joined The View<\/em>, they ranked among the panelists of The Gossip Queens<\/em>, a syndicated half-hour panel show billed as \u201cthe perfect blend of comedy and gossip.\u201d<\/a> But the show seems to have come and gone in the span of a calendar year, leaving behind desperate-sounding daily Facebook posts<\/a> reading \u201cPlease watch The Gossip Queens<\/em>!\u201d<\/p>\n Not to be confused with the tabloid of the same name, this syndicated panel show had Jules Asner<\/a>, Cynthia Garrett, Lynne Koplitz, Kimora Lee Simmons<\/a> holding court at a very small table. The show was canceled amid gossip of bad behavior on Simmons\u2019 part<\/a>. She later told Vanity Fair<\/a><\/em> she hated the show, adding, \u201cI\u2019m not used to having a boss. I\u2019m<\/em> the boss. I don\u2019t need the money. I\u2019m filthy f***ing rich!\u201d<\/p>\n Anything View<\/em> can do, guys can do better? Nope. This short-lived syndicated panel show seemed like a direct, gender-swapped response to The View<\/em>, with Dick Clark<\/a>, Danny Bonaduce<\/a>, Mario Lopez<\/a>, and Dorian Gregory<\/a> joining the panel. Two seasons later, the results of that experiment were in, and The Other Half<\/em> was out.<\/p>\n FABLife<\/em> wasn\u2019t fab enough for Tyra Banks<\/a>. On the syndicated show, Banks joined a \u201clifestylist\u201d panel that included model-turned-foodie Chrissy Teigen<\/a> and fashion expert Joe Zee<\/a>, but she quit the show just two months in.
