\n\tKnown for her minimalist, natural approach to nails<\/a>, celebrity manicurist Harriet Westmoreland is taking her beauty<\/a> influence to the next level. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve had a manicure where it has a bulky, kind of rubbery finish and is a little bit heavy on the nail,\u201d Westmoreland asked WWD over a video call. \u201cI wanted to create something that didn\u2019t have any of these qualities and feels like liquid glass on your nail.\u201d Enter Westmoreland Cosmetics, her new namesake nail care brand.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe line opens with a Vanilla Glass collection comprised of five shades: two nudes, two milky and one peach. Each color is available in gel and regular polish<\/a>. Rooted in this first palette is the idea of duality, being able to wear a color that lasts from day to night. However, neutral tones won\u2019t be the only shades available from the brand; new colors are scheduled to drop seasonally. <\/p>\n

\n\tWestmoreland Cosmetics is the artist\u2019s latest attempt to fill the white space in the nail category, providing consumers and technicians with premium tools. Where most professional gel polishes leave a white pigment, Westmoreland\u2019s products keep a clean, even finish suitable for all skin tones.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen you put a gel on that contains a white pigment, it can look ashy, dull and gray, sort of throws the color off. So we\u2019ve removed this pigment, giving the nail such a healthy, fresh, juicy finish. And the nudes, tints, whatever the color is, works across all skin tones by removing this,\u201d Westmoreland explained. <\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\tWestmoreland Cosmetics will launch with its Vanilla Glass collection of nudes. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tThe longevity of the polish, Westmoreland said, sets the product apart from others on the market, too. \u201cYou can have it for three to six weeks, no lifting or chipping. It\u2019s extremely thin and has a high gloss finish,\u201d she said. Versatility was also a priority when formulating the inaugural shade range. Westmoreland noted that mixing and layering the hero colors can generate over 150 new combinations. <\/p>\n

\n\tOn her nails, Westmoreland favors a sheer coat, a style that\u2019s very en vogue right now. However, she argues the technique isn\u2019t so much trendy as it is timeless. \u201cI wear sheer all year round. I think it works, but say, for example, in the fall it\u2019ll be browns and nudes. Spring, you might go more fun. Winter, you go to red. Those are the kinds of collections that you could expect from the brand.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tPhoebe Philo recently made the case for translucent finishes over darker colors in her Collection C campaign. Images of French director and actress Mati Diop were shared on the brand\u2019s Instagram, in which Diop is seen sporting square-shaped talons, each coated in a different neutral hue, completely see-through.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
