(KCTV) &#8212; The 300 home runs by a catcher club just got a little larger. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez became the eighth player in Major League Baseball history to reach 300 home runs while being primarily a catcher. Perez\u2019s 300th career home run, his 27th of the 2025 season, came on an 0-2 splitter in the top of the third inning of Saturday\u2019s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Perez, 35, joined Mike Piazza (399), Carlton Fisk (366), Johnny Bench (356), Yogi Berra (336), Lance Parrish (324), Ivan Rodriguez (311) and Gary Carter (307) among catchers who have reached the 300-home run plateau.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In Royals\u2019 franchise history, Perez becomes the second member of the 300 home run club. In fact, Perez failed to hit 20 home runs in any of his first four seasons in Major League Baseball. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Perez, a nine-time American League All-Star, has hit 20 or more home runs in every non-COVID season since 2015. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Until this summer, Perez\u2019s 48 home run campaign in 2021 was the best single-season mark by a catcher in MLB history.
