Dark-eyed and warm-hearted with Thunderbirds eyebrows, Matteo Bocelli \u2013 youngest son of world-famous tenor Andrea \u2013 is the charismatic 6ft 6 classical-crossover star rapidly becoming the voice of romance for a new generation. As well as singing at Kourtney Kardashian\u2019s 2022 wedding, Matteo performed at Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez\u2019s nuptials in June (for an estimated \u00a3225,000.) The pair\u2019s sultry stand-alone duet on If I Knew, released last October, probably sparked the rumour.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Born in the Mediterranean seaside town of Forte dei Marmi, Bocelli is the second son of opera star Andrea and his first wife Enrica Cenzatti. They divorced when Matteo was five; he has a half-sister, Virginia, 15, from his father\u2019s second marriage to Veronica Berti. \u201cThere was always a lot of music in my life \u2013 my father singing and performing. In his house, I heard Frank Sinatra<\/a> and a lot of opera, in my mum\u2019s house, it was Queen and Lionel Richie.\u201d His elder brother Amos, a spatial engineer, provided heavier sounds. \u201cHe introduced me to AC\/DC, Muse, Slipknot\u2026\u201d Matteo started learning piano at six, but Andrea had no idea his son could sing until he was 16. \u201cMy father didn\u2019t know how much I was singing. My father said, \u2018No. You\u2019re not ready, you\u2019re not prepared.\u2019 He was trying to protect me. But I said, when will I have such a good and important chance again?\u201d After leaving school, Bocelli studied vocal techniques and classical piano at the Luigi Boccherini Conservatory of Music. He made his stage debut at 18, singing Verdi at the Colosseum in Rome. He was 21 when he first recorded with his father. That song, 2018\u2019s Fall On Me, has since been streamed globally more than 400million times. They sang it together at that year\u2019s Royal Variety Performance.
