Joy Behar<\/strong> isn\u2019t too excited about the newest Bachelorette<\/strong> lead. Following ABC\u2019s announcement<\/a> that Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Taylor Frankie Paul \u2014 a divorced mother of three \u2014 will be the next woman to hand out roses on the show, Behar weighed in.<\/p>\n \u201cSo will these bachelors line up to be baby daddy No. 3?\u201d Behar said on the Sept. 12 episode of The View<\/a>. \u201cIsn\u2019t that the whole point of the show? To find your lover and get married? But, she\u2019s got a little bit of baggage.\u201d <\/p>\n View directly on Instagram<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Paul, 31, has two kids \u2014 daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5 \u2014 with her ex-husband, Tate Paul, and one son, Ever, 17 months, with her ex-boyfriend<\/a> Dakota Mortensen.<\/p>\n Overall, the feedback on Paul\u2019s Bachelorette casting has been mixed. Some TSLOMW fans are excited to see Paul in the role while others are upset with ABC<\/a> for the decision. <\/p>\n Paul\u2019s casting is controversial for a number of reasons. Aside from the fact that she\u2019s a divorcee with three kids, she has also been arrested on domestic violence charges. In 2023, Paul faced misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, following an argument with Mortensen.<\/p>\n According to a probable cause statement obtained by CBS News<\/a> at the time, Paul was accused of \u201cthrowing several \u2018heavy, metal chairs\u2019 at Mortensen and hitting her 5-year-old daughter in the head with one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n A plea deal kept her from serving extended time behind bars. Per the Salt Lake City Tribune<\/a>, Paul would need to submit \u201cboth a substance abuse evaluation and a domestic violence evaluation and complete any recommended treatment. She also must not violate any laws above a minor traffic violation.\u201d Additionally, she was assigned a probation and parole officer.<\/p>\n Regardless, some people are still supportive of Paul being the next Bachelorette star.<\/p>\n \u201cNever have I ever watched the bachelor till now!! Let\u2019s go!!\u201d one person commented<\/a> on ABC\u2019s Instagram announcement.<\/p>\n \u201cSo excited for you. Well deserved!\u201d someone else added<\/a>.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, feedback on Reddit was far less positive, with some people saying they plan to boycott the season.<\/p>\n \u201cThis wasn\u2019t the route to go. If they wanted to bring in a lead with a bigger following, fine. But someone with a history of domestic violence wasn\u2019t the answer,\u201d one Reddit user wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve seen every season since the very beginning. Not watching this one,\u201d someone else said<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is an all time low for this franchise.
