An insider is sharing details of the \u201cvery emotional\u201d and long-awaited reunion between Prince Harry<\/strong><\/a> and his father, King Charles<\/strong><\/a>, after nearly two years of estrangement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe meeting was sparked by a handwritten letter from Harry earlier this year to Charles expressing his desire to reconnect,\u201d a source exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> after the Duke of Sussex met with his father on Wednesday, September 10.<\/p>\n

Harry traveled across the pond to attend the annual WellChild Awards in London on Monday, September 8. Photos and video footage shared via social media showed Harry and Charles, 76, arriving to the home separately. According to the outlet, the father and son chatted for around 54 minutes before Prince Harry departed for an Invictus Games event at around 6:14 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were catching up personally about the children and what has been going on with Charles and his health,\u201d the source told Us<\/em> of the exchange. \u201cThere were hugs and tears at the meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prince Harry shares two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with his wife, Meghan Markle<\/strong>. The pair have been estranged from Harry\u2019s family after they stepped away as senior working royals in 2020 and relocated to Montecito, California.<\/p>\n

In February 2024, King Charles announced he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer<\/a>. In the wake of his father\u2019s health scare, Prince Harry publicly expressed a desire to mend the father and son\u2019s broken relationship.<\/p>\n
