At the Emmy Awards tonight, Slow Horses is up for five awards, including Best Drama. While numerous members of the Apple TV+ thriller were in attendance, one was notably missing: Jack Lowden, who plays River Cartwright.<\/p>\n
Lowden and wife, actress Saoirse Ronan, recently welcomed their first child. Last year, Ronan opened up in a rare interview about motherhood, saying<\/a>, \u201cI became successful when I was quite young. It meant that by the time I found my partner, I\u2019m now at the stage where if it happened, I would like to have a kid\u2026I feel fortunate enough that if I step out of this for a minute, I\u2019m hopefully not giving it up forever. But I\u2019ve always wanted that.\u201d<\/p>\n While neither often speaks about their relationship, Lowden did talk about why he loves being married to a fellow actor. \u201cBeing with an actor is wonderful, because we understand each other,\u201d Lowden said in an interview<\/a> about being married to Ronan. \u201cWe\u2019re quite odd people, actors. We\u2019re strange animals. So it just makes complete sense, and I understand why there are loads of other actors with actors.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cAnd it\u2019s really useful for running lines, rather than with, like, your mum. Is it hard to maintain privacy? I don\u2019t know. I think I\u2019ve been very lucky in that I\u2019ve had quite a slow-building kind of career, and I\u2019ve been allowed to grow up and get things wrong. I can\u2019t imagine what it must be like, if you\u2019re 18, 19 and you\u2019re in a huge show and all of a sudden everybody wants to know everything about you.\u201d<\/p>\n Lowden is also currently filming Netflix\u2019s Pride & Prejudice<\/a>, where he is set to play Mr. Darcy.
