Prince Harry<\/strong><\/a> denied writing about private family affairs in his memoir, Spare<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Guardian<\/em><\/a>, published on Sunday, September 14, the Duke of Sussex opened up about the words he penned regarding his personal life in the 2023 book<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible,\u201d Harry, 41, told the outlet. \u201cMy conscience is clear.\u201d<\/p>\n

The book\u2019s 416 pages, read by Us Weekly<\/em> just prior to its January 10, 2023 release date, included Harry\u2019s version of multiple arguments with his brother, Prince William<\/strong>, over the years, as well as his side of the story when it came to tension between his wife, Meghan Markle<\/strong>, and his brother\u2019s wife, Princess Kate<\/strong>, plus his take on his relationship with his father, King Charles III<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected,\u201d Harry added. \u201cI know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry also revealed in the interview that Markle, 44, once told him how telling the truth \u201cis the most efficient way to live,\u201d noting that he took the advice on board. \u201cIt is the thing I always fall back on. Always,\u201d Harry said. \u201cAnd if you think like that, who would be stupid enough to lie? It takes up too much time and effort.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spare<\/em> centered on how Harry believed he was a \u201cspare\u201d member of his family due to his rank falling behind his older brother in line to the throne. \u201cTwo years older than me, Willy was the Heir, whereas I was the Spare,\u201d Harry wrote in the book. \u201cThis wasn\u2019t merely how the press referred to us \u2014 though it was definitely that. This was shorthand often used by Pa and Mummy and Grandpa. And even Granny.\u201d (Harry referred to Charles, 76, his late mother, Princess Diana<\/strong>, who was 36 when she died in 1997, his late grandfather, Prince Philip<\/strong>, who died at the age of 99 in 2021, and his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II<\/strong>, who died at the age of 96 the following year.)<\/p>\n
