Owen Cooper just unlocked a new level of Emmys history.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
On Sunday night, the 15-year-old \u201cAdolescence<\/a>\u201d breakout star won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited\/Anthology Series or TV Movie, making him the youngest male winner of any acting Emmy ever<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The British actor beat out the record previously held by Scott Jacoby, who was 16 when he won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for 1972\u2019s \u201cThat Certain Summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Cooper went up against his co-star Ashley Walters in his category, as well as Javier Bardem (\u201cMonsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story\u201d), Rob Delaney (\u201cDying for Sex\u201d), Peter Sarsgaard and Bill Camp (\u201cPresumed Innocent\u201d).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAdolescence\u201d marks Cooper\u2019s first on-screen role. He played a 13-year-old student named Jamie Miller who was arrested for murdering his classmate. In the four-episode series, the allegations turn his family\u2019s world upside down and force them to confront every parent\u2019s worst nightmare.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Cooper\u2019s TV father, Stephen Graham, also picked up an Emmy nomination for Best Actor in a Limited\/Anthology Series or TV Movie, while Christine Tremarco (Jamie\u2019s mother) and Erin Doherty (Jamie\u2019s psychologist) were both nominated for Best Supporting Actress. The show itself was up for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n So far this awards season, Cooper has been on a roll, nabbing his first Emmy win shortly after taking home another best supporting actor honor at the Gotham TV Awards in June.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Cooper reacted to his history-making Emmy nomination last month in an interview with People<\/a>, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s just crazy, really. And the youngest in my category is just … Do you know what?
