An emotional part of every Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast is the farewell to those actors we’ve lost in the past year.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s broadcast on CBS featured a tribute to the late stars that was accompanied by the song “Go Rest High on the Mountain,” sung by Lainey Wilson<\/strong> and Vince Gill<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Interestingly, as Variety<\/em> reported<\/a>, some notable stars weren’t showcased during the solemn farewell, including:<\/p>\n \u201cAlice\u201d star Polly Holliday<\/strong>, who died September 9<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Wrestler and actor Hulk Hogan<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n “What\u2019s Happening”star Danielle Spencer<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n “General Hospital” star Leslie Charleson<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Also missing from the segment were King of the Hill<\/em> actor Jonathan Joss<\/strong>, Lynne Marie Stewart<\/strong> of Pee-Wee\u2019s Playhouse<\/em>, The Sopranos<\/em> actor Jerry Adler<\/strong> and Dennis the Menace<\/em> himself, Jay North<\/strong>, Variety<\/em> reports.<\/p>\n Introducing the segment onstage was Phylicia Rashad<\/strong>, who remembered her Cosby Show <\/em>son Malcolm-Jamal Warner<\/strong>, who unexpectedly died on July 20.<\/p>\n \u201cMalcolm-Jamal Warner remains in our hearts,\u201d Rashad said.<\/p>\n Stars such as Downton Abbey<\/em> standout Maggie Smith<\/strong>, Good Times<\/em> actor John Amos<\/strong>, MASH<\/em> veteran Loretta Swit<\/strong> and Ozzy Osbourne<\/strong> were remembered \u2014 along with Twin Peaks<\/em> creator and co-star David Lynch<\/strong>. The segment ended with a final slide dedicated to music legend Quincy Jones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Many of the names omitted from the main show were included on a longer scroll on the TV Academy\u2019s website<\/a>, as Variety<\/em> noted.<\/p>\n Fans expectedly lash out every year when certain beloved stars actors aren\u2019t included in the actual broadcast. Often, as Variety<\/em> notes, this is due to time constraints since the segment is only a few minutes long.<\/p>\n In breaking down the highs and lows of the 2025 Emmys broadcast<\/a> in general, one highlight was the opening sketch with host Nate Bargatze<\/strong>. It was based on his viral Saturday Night Live<\/em> skit \u201cWashington\u2019s Dream.\u201d He played the inventor of television Philo T.
