\u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d stars Ray Romano and Brad Garrett reunited on the Emmys stage for a hilariously depressing bit while presenting the award for best comedy series<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Emmy-winning actors, who starred as Ray and Robert Barone across nine seasons of the CBS sitcom, celebrated the 20 year anniversary of \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d winning the best comedy award.<\/p>\n More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt feels a little different\u00a0to be on the Emmys stage tonight\u00a0than it did then.\u00a0I don\u2019t think we were wearing\u00a0compression socks back then,\u201d Romano said, to which Garrett replied: \u201cOr hearing aids.\u201d<\/p>\n Romano said he didn\u2019t have one of those yet, and Garrett quipped: \u201cI\u2019ve got two.\u201d<\/p>\n Romano then applauded Garrett for his three Emmy wins for best supporting actor in a comedy series. \u201cYou want to know something,\u00a0Ray?\u201d Garrett asked. \u201cI just thought that I would have\u00a0been back here sooner, you know?\u00a0In some capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI just thought for winning\u00a0the Emmy I would have worked\u00a0more, that\u2019s all,\u201d Garrett added, then turned to the audience. \u201cDon\u2019t think that if you win\u00a0tonight your life is going to\u00a0change.\u00a0It\u2019s not going to change!\u201d<\/p>\n The actor continued his pity party, comparing himself to Romano, who \u201cstarred in a Scorsese film with De Niro,\u201d while Garrett is doing a \u201cguest shot on \u2018The Dog Whisperer.’\u201d<\/p>\n As Romano tried to cheer up his former co-star, Garrett got darker: \u201cLet\u2019s be honest: I think the\u00a0next time I\u2019m on the Emmys it\u00a0will be in memoriam.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cJust be honest with me, okay?\u00a0Am I going to make the cut?\u201d Garrett asked Romano, to which he replied, \u201cWhat cut?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn memoriam.\u201d Garrett deadpanned. \u201cJust tell me. Just say it.\u201d<\/p>\n Romano, trying to get on with announcing the winner of the category, looked down. \u201cI mean\u2026\u00a0If it\u2019s a slow year, no doubt,\u201d he said to booming laughter.<\/p>\n Romano then assured the audience at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles that Garrett is doing just fine and owns a comedy club in Las Vegas. But before anyone could feel too happy for Garrett, he joked: \u201cIt\u2019s in the food court!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf you were this funny back\u00a0then, we could have won a couple\u00a0more,\u201d Romano said, referring to \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u2019s\u201d 15 Emmy wins.<\/p>\n Outside of his work on the sitcom, Garrett was nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the 2000 television movie \u201cGleason.\u201d He also went on to have a decorated career in voice acting, contributing to major animated fare like \u201cA Bug\u2019s Live,\u201d \u201cFinding Nemo,\u201d \u201cRatatouille,\u201d \u201cTangled\u201d and \u201cChristopher Robin.\u201d<\/p>\n Romano is also known for \u201cThe Big Sick,\u201d \u201cParenthood\u201d and Scorsese\u2019s \u201cThe Irishman.\u201d Like Garrett, his voice is recognizable thanks to the \u201cIce Age\u201d animated franchise.<\/p>\n Best of Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for Variety’s Newsletter<\/a>.
