HBO\u2019s \u201cHacks\u201d will be ending after five seasons.<\/p>\n
Hannah Einbinder, who plays Ava Daniels on the hit comedy drama, shared the news with E! host Heather McMahan (via Variety<\/a>) on the red carpet of the 77th Emmy Awards<\/a> on Sunday. <\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re going to start [filming] next week, and knowing it\u2019s the last season is really bittersweet. But I think it\u2019s right, you know? It\u2019s nice to do something as many times as it should be done. Not overstay your welcome. Rip it and do it and laugh and cry,\u201d Einbinder said.<\/p>\n McMahan repeated the \u201crip it\u201d quote back to Einbinder, who responded: \u201cYou can quote me on that. I\u2019m going on the record on that.\u201d<\/p>\n The show was nominated for 14 Emmys on Sunday. Einbinder, who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the show, took home the gold later that evening. This was her first-ever Emmy win. <\/p>\n During her speech, she teased the fact that she had never won before after previously being nominated in this category in 2021, 2022, and 2024. <\/p>\n \u201cThank you, wow. I really, sorry. I was just really committed to the personal narrative that I had that it\u2019s actually cooler to continue to lose. I was pretty committed to that. Had to be, right? But, this is cool too. This is also a punk rock,\u201d Einbinder said.<\/p>\n She went on to thank the creators of \u201cHacks\u201d <\/i>for \u201cchanging my life in every conceivable way. Not just by giving me a great gig, but by being my friends and being my family.\u201d<\/p>\n Einbinder also gave co-star Jean Smart<\/a> a shoutout, who took home the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. \u201cI want to thank Jean Smart, who is like the sun, and I just to stand in her warmth.\u201d She also thanked the cast and crew of the \u201cHacks.\u201d<\/p>\n Einbinder then became the first celebrity to have their acceptance speech censored during the night, when she said: \u201cFinally, go birds, f— ICE and free Palestine. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHacks\u201d follows the relationship between legendary Las Vegas comic Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her entitled, outcast Gen Z comedy writer Ava Daniels (Einbinder).
