A Syracuse native just won her first Emmy Award for her work on a hit Netflix series.<\/p>\n
Carina Sposato<\/a>, a 2008 graduate of Manlius Pebble Hill High School, won an Emmys statuette Sunday night for \u201cAdolescence.\u201d The show won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, beating out \u201cBlack Mirror,\u201d \u201cThe Penguin,\u201d \u201cDying for Sex\u201d and \u201cMonsters: The Lyle and Erik Mendez Story.\u201d<\/p>\n Sposato served as co-executive producer on \u201cAdolescence,\u201d a four-episode psychological drama released in March. She shared the honor with 13 others on the production side, including Emmy and Oscar-winning actor and producer Brad Pitt and SAG-award-winning British actor Stephen Graham, who also starred in the series.<\/p>\n It was Sposato\u2019s first time being nominated.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just thrilled for her. She\u2019s a hard worker and I\u2019m just very, very proud,\u201d Sposato\u2019s mother Joanna, who still lives in Syracuse, told syracuse.com on Saturday.<\/p>\n \u201cAdolescence\u201d won an additional seven Emmys<\/a>, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Graham, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Owen Cooper, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Erin Doherty, Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Philip Barantini, and Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Jack Thorne and Graham.<\/p>\n The series, set in West Yorkshire, England, follows the arrest of a 13-year-old boy, Jamie Miller (Cooper), who is accused of murdering his classmate. The gripping crime drama received immense praise upon its release. Per Netflix\u2019s Tudum<\/a>, it is the second most-watched show globally, with over 142.6 million views within its first 91 days on the platform.<\/p>\n Sposato, who now lives in California, earned her Bachelor\u2019s degree in Film Studies from Yale University before starting her career in the entertainment industry. She is currently the Head of Television at Department M, an independent production studio founded by Mike Larocca and Michael Schaefer. She previously worked as a producer for Pitt\u2019s Plan B Entertainment, which produced \u201cAdolescence.\u201d <\/p>\n
