Selena Gomez<\/a> had a sweet reaction during Sunday night\u2019s (September 14) 2025 Emmys<\/a> when she noticed her Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/a> co-star Martin Short<\/a> apparently texting Meryl Streep<\/a>.<\/p>\n The moment was spotted by fans after a video captured Gomez looking over at her co-stars Short and Steve Martin<\/a>. In the clip, Short is seen smiling while looking down at his phone. After Gomez notices this, she gives an aw cute<\/em> pout and turns to her fianc\u00e9, Benny Blanco<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cMarty\u2019s texting Meryl,\u201d the singer seemingly mouths, smiling.<\/p>\n Rumors have been swirling<\/a>\u00a0over the past couple of years regarding a potential romance between Short and Streep. The speculation went into overdrive when they were spotted\u00a0sitting next to each other<\/a>\u00a0at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. However, at the time, a representative for Short shot down the rumors, telling\u00a0People\u00a0<\/em>that the pair are \u201cjust very good friends, nothing more.\u201d<\/p>\n Comedian Amy Schumer<\/a> kicked the speculation back up in February, telling People<\/em><\/a> on the SNL50: The Anniversary Special<\/em> red carpet, \u201cI think that the tea is, I think Marty might be off the market. That\u2019s what I\u2019m seeing. I don\u2019t know,\u201d adding that his heart may have been stolen by \u201cMaybe by just like the greatest actor of our time, I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n Streep, who plays Short\u2019s love interest in the hit Hulu series, was not in attendance at Sunday\u2019s Emmys. However, it appears Short was keeping her informed via text.<\/p>\n Speaking to Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> earlier this month, Short spoke highly of Streep, saying \u201chow easy\u201d she is to work with. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t carry any of her 21 Oscar nominations to the set,\u201d he quipped. \u201cShe has a right to be a diva. And she\u2019s just so polite and fun and generous.\u201d<\/p>\n Short was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series at Sunday\u2019s ceremony, though he lost out to The Studio<\/em><\/a>\u2018s Seth Rogen<\/a>. The show was also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, though again, lost out to Apple TV+\u2019s The Studio<\/em>.<\/p>\n The Only Murders in the Building<\/em> cast was in good spirits throughout the night, though. In another funny moment, Martin was seen telling Jake Gyllenhaal<\/a> and Cate Blanchett<\/a>, who were seated in front of him, to \u201cbow down further\u201d so photographers could snap a picture of him and Gomez.<\/p>\n Blanchett and Gyllenhaal both cracked up as they playfully put their hands up to block the shot.<\/p>\n You can watch the funny moment in the video above.<\/p>\n
