The U.S. Sun<\/em><\/a>, the salesperson from Paducah, Kentucky, revealed some interesting details of the show\u2019s behind-the-scenes process, including how contestants are sequestered in a hotel room for two weeks before filming begins.<\/p>\n\u201cThe one thing that surprised me was the sequester was different from what I expected. It\u2019s long,\u201d Frederich told the outlet. \u201cIt\u2019s almost two weeks\u2026 And you don\u2019t have any contact with anybody. You\u2019re just sitting in a hotel room.\u201d<\/p>\n
Frederich explained how he wasn\u2019t allowed to leave the room, use a cellphone, or have contact with anyone. He couldn\u2019t even use the hotel gym to work out. \u201cYou can work out inside the hotel room, but you\u2019re just looking forward to the next time they bring you up food, basically,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n
So what did he do for two weeks alone? Frederich explained that he spent the majority of his time watching movies. The production staff provided him with a \u201clittle DVD player\u201d and he said he watched \u201clike, 16 hours a day of movies. That\u2019s all I did.\u00a0It was just movie, movie, movie, movie. I would call in other movies, and then I would eat.\u201d<\/p>\n
The fitness fanatic did reveal he would work out \u201cfor 30 minutes a day\u201d in the room, but most of the time he was just watching movies and waiting for his next meal. \u201cYou could request snacks or movies and stuff like that,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd then, yeah, it was just chilling, just sitting there doing nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n
While he admitted it was \u201cnice\u201d to be \u201cseparated from the world\u201d and all its worries, he said the alone time could become stressful. \u201cIt was like, \u2018Man, I want to talk to people.\u00a0I want to see people.’\u201d<\/p>\n
Then, there was the added stress of knowing he was about to take part in one of the most iconic reality shows ever, with a bunch of strangers who were also going through the same thing as him in that moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt one point, you know that the cast list is released, but you haven\u2019t even gone on the show. You don\u2019t know the other cast members, but everyone else does,\u201d Frederich said, referencing how CBS reveals the cast to the public while the houseguests are still sequestered.<\/p>\n
Summing up his sequester experience, Frederich noted, \u201cI would say that was something that was a little unexpected for me, a little behind-the-scenes thing that was cool.\u201d<\/p>\n
