British producer David Puttnam<\/a>, whose long list of credits includes \u201cChariots of Fire<\/a>,\u201d \u201cThe Killing Fields<\/a>\u201d and \u201cThe Mission<\/a>,\u201d will be honored by the Rome Film Festival with its inaugural Industry Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/p>\n

Puttnam, whose work has earned a combined total of 10 Oscars, 10 Golden Globes, 25 BAFTAs and nine Emmys \u2014 as well as one Palme d\u2019Or (for \u201cThe Mission<\/a>\u201d) \u2014 will receive the prize from Britain-based Italian director and screenwriter Uberto Pasolini<\/a> (\u201cFull Monte\u201d), who began his career with Puttnam as a location scout on \u201cKilling Fields<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Puttnam, who is 84, started producing movies in his native London during the early 1970s and has worked with directors such as Alan Parker<\/a>, Ken Russell<\/a>, Adrian Lyne<\/a> and Ridley Scott<\/a>, among others, shepherding some of the most critically acclaimed and often commercially successful films of the 1980s.<\/p>\n
