A thrash metal band<\/a> hailing from the United States<\/a> has \u2014 after 34 years \u2014 finally let new music loose onto the scene.<\/p>\n Now, they\u2019re performing said new music<\/a>.<\/p>\n Metal Injection reports<\/a> that Dark Angel \u2014 which first formed in Downey, California, in the 1980s \u2014 released their latest album \u201cExtinction Level Event\u201d in June. They\u2019ve officially started to perform this new music live, starting with a gig at the Vibes Center in San Antonio, Texas on Friday. <\/p>\n The publication notes<\/a> that this is Dark Angel\u2019s first new album since their 1991 release of \u201dTime Does Not Heal.\u201d Afterward, the band went through several break-ups (although they did reform in 2013) as well as the the tragic loss the last original member, Jim Durkin, in 2023. <\/p>\n \u201cI just want to write a kick-ass metal album,\u201d drummer Gene Holgan informed \u201cRocking With Jam Man<\/a>\u201d back in May. \u201cSo what I\u2019ve tried to do is not go back 35 years or 37 years or whatever, \u2018Darkness Descends\u2019 or even \u2018We Have Arrived,\u2019 those or early albums, or \u2018Leave Scars\u2019 or \u2018Times Does Not Heal.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve not tried to duplicate anything form any of those albums, but I tried to put myself in the mindset of what if Dark Angel just kept writing albums for the last 30-whatever years, 32, 33 years, where would we be at now?
