The single arrives with a haunting milestone: the band&#8217;s first-ever music video, directed, produced, and edited by <strong>Eva Tusquets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evoken<\/strong> drummer <strong>Vince Verkay<\/strong> describes the song as a meditation on suffering and spiritual collapse: &#8220;&#8216;None&#8217; invokes a monk&#8217;s inner torment. It&#8217;s a cinematic descent between faith and desire.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The track builds upon <em>Mendacium<\/em>&#8216;s concept \u2014 a fourteenth-century elderly Benedictine monk wasting away in his cell, trapped between divine devotion and mortal frailty. Wracked by illness and ceaseless pain, he encounters a grotesque entity crawling through a tear in reality. The central question lingers: is this a supernatural tormentor, or the monk&#8217;s own mind unraveling hour by hour?<\/p>\n<p><em>Mendacium<\/em> marks a shift back toward <strong>Evoken<\/strong>&#8216;s most oppressive, dirge-like heaviness, recalling the suffocating weight of <em>Quietus<\/em> and <em>Antithesis of Light<\/em>. While their 2018 opus <em>Hypnagogia<\/em> leaned into melancholic and more tangible textures, <em>Mendacium<\/em> is set to plunge deeper into cavernous dread \u2014 weaving in elements of gothic ambience, experimental mire, and echoes of visionaries like <strong>Dead Can Dance<\/strong>, <strong>Monumentum<\/strong>, and <strong>Disembowelment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Produced by <strong>Ron &#8220;Bumblefoot&#8221; Thal<\/strong>, who previously worked with <strong>Evoken<\/strong> on <em>Antithesis of Light<\/em> and <em>Quietus<\/em>, the album has been hailed as the band&#8217;s most powerful-sounding record to date.
