The Duke of Kent was supported by his three children as they accompanied the Duchess of Kent\u2019s coffin on its journey from Kensington Palace to Westminster Cathedral<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Duke. 89, lent on the arm of his daughter, Lady Helen Taylor, as he walked across the front steps of the Cathedral as the Royal Hearse arrived bearing the coffin of his wife of 64 years.<\/p>\n

Prince Edward looked out from just inside the Cathedral doors as a Bearer Party made up of soldiers from the Royal Dragoon Guards carried the casket up the steps and inside for the Rite of Reception and Vespers.<\/p>\n

The private service was attended by the immediate family of the Duchess who died on September 4 at the age of 92.<\/p>\n

Her coffin was covered in the Royal Standard and a wreath of pink and white flowers rested on top.<\/p>\n

The Royal Hearse had earlier left Kensington Palace to the sound of a lament played by a lone piper, another members of the Royal Dragoon Guards of which the Duchess was Deputy Colonel-in-Chief.<\/p>\n

A small crowd gathered to pay their respects as her coffin was driven through the gates and towards Westminster.<\/p>\n

A car, thought to be carrying the Duke of Kent, followed with most of the family member travelling by minibus.<\/p>\n

The sister and brother of the Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra and Prince Michael, were among those attending the private service at Westminster Cathedral.<\/p>\n

The funeral of the Duchess of Kent<\/a> takes place on September 16 2025 with King Charles and Queen Camilla leading the Royal Family at the service.<\/p>\n
