DWTS <\/em>premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 16 on ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nDanielle Fishel<\/a> and Pasha Pashkov<\/a> are gearing up for Dancing with the Stars<\/em><\/a>!<\/p>\nThe actress, 44, and the pro, 39, recently spoke with PEOPLE at the ABC Summer Soir\u00e9e in Los Angeles, where they revealed how they\u2019ve been preparing for season 34. With their eye on the mirrorball trophy, the pair say they are making sure to stay on top of their health.<\/p>\n
\u201cI definitely am going to have to start routines,\u201d Fishel admits. \u201cI’ve been trying to do them. Stretching has become a non-negotiable for me. I have to stretch every single night. I have to stretch every single morning. I’m trying to stay hydrated because it is very hot and we are sweating a lot, so I’m trying to stay hydrated.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI’m also trying to do some cold plunges when I can,\u201d she continues. \u201cMy muscles are very sore right now, so I’m trying to take care of them as best I can.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\nDisney\/Andrew Eccles<\/p>\n

Pashkov says his best tip for getting through the competition is to \u201cstay focused\u201d and \u201cin your own lane\u201d as the pressure comes down harder.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon’t get distracted with what anybody else is doing,\u201d he explains. \u201cThat’s very important. All the things that she’s already doing, like hydrating, sleeping, stretching, recovering, because it’s a lot. And I know you said that I’m used to it, and even though I’m used to it, the hours are so grueling that I’m also very sore.\u201d<\/p>\n
He adds: \u201cI think it’s just keeping balance between hard work, but at the same time knowing when to turn off your brain and your body. Give it a chance to recharge because it’s a long, long competition. And if you don’t recover, it can become very short, really quick.”<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Fishel opened up to PEOPLE about her decision to participate in DWTS <\/em>after undergoing treatment for breast cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n\u201dThe minute I was done with my cancer treatment, I thought to myself, \u2018If this has shown me anything, it has shown me that I am not experiencing enough joy in my life,'” she shared. \u201dI’m going through every day, performing tasks and being there for my family and being there for work. Where’s the fun?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen they asked me to do this, I was like, \u2018This is the perfect way to cap it off,\u2019\u201c she noted.<\/p>\n
Last August, Fishel was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer<\/a> called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), which she shared on her podcast, Pod Meets World<\/em><\/a>.
