Tramell Tillman won the Emmy Award<\/a> for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Mr. Milchick in \u201cSeverance\u201d on Sunday night. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He is the first Black actor to win in the category.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Tillman, 40, gave an emotional speech to accept the award and quoted his mother, who was in the audience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201c\u2019<\/span>You remember what you want to remember. You make time for what you want to make time for. Do the work. Show up. And most importantly, for the love of God, don\u2019t embarrass me in public,\u2019<\/span>\u201d Tillman said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cMy first acting coach was tough, y\u2019all. But all great mothers are,\u201d he continued to rousing applause and laughter from the audience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cMama, you were there for me when no one else was and no one else would show up,\u201d he said. \u201cYour loving kindness stays with me. And this is for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On the red carpet, Tillman talked to E! host Zuri Hall<\/a> about bringing his mom as his date to the ceremony.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a dream,\u201d he said. \u201cShe\u2019s the reason that I\u2019m here in so many ways, and to be able to have this moment \u2014 to bring her here \u2014 I think it\u2019s such a lesson.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the weeks before the Emmys ceremony, Tillman acknowledged his history-making nomination.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cDo I feel a weight? No. I feel honored to join the legacy of these incredible storytellers. I\u2019m ambitious and would love an Emmy, but I\u2019ve learned it\u2019s not up to me,\u201d he told Variety<\/a> in August.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
