In the trailer for his new documentary short film, Touched by Gold, he\u00a0reveals how he turned both of his kneecaps into wearable gold jewelry. Watch the trailer below.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I had my kneecaps removed, the left one first and then the right, I asked my surgeon if I could keep the kneecaps, which he was rather startled about,\u201d the pop icon stated in an exclusive clip provided to Us Weekly<\/a>, going on to add that he gave jewelry designer Theo Fennell the artistic liberty to do \u201cwhat you want with them\u201d after his double knee replacement.<\/p>\n The designer then explained how his team \u201cbaked\u201d John\u2019s kneecaps to \u201cdry them out,\u201d a process that renders the bones into a porous, pumice stone-like texture, allowing them to be painted with acetate and polished.<\/p>\n \u201cMy surgeon said I had the worst knees he\u2019s ever operated on,\u201d John said, revealing that his right patella was transformed into a gold-plated necklace. \u201cThat hole was actually in my kneecap. It looks a bit like an old artifact from Egypt.\u201d<\/p>\n The singer added that Fennell made the transformation even more special, as he \u201cbrilliantly had the necklace chain made out of bones.\u201d Making the piece complete is an engraving of a Latin phrase that translates to, \u201cI will no longer bow to any man.\u201d According to Fennell, that\u2019s something \u201cyou can\u2019t do with a kneecap missing.\u201d<\/p>\n Since they couldn\u2019t do \u201cso much with it,\u201d John\u2019s left knee was turned into a brooch.\u00a0\u201cI honestly think these are timeless pieces that will last for centuries,\u201d the pop superstar added.<\/p>\n \u201cGold is timeless,\u201d John emphasizes in the trailer. \u201cIt\u2019s a constant reminder of how beautiful things can look.\u201d<\/p>\n Touched by Gold is out now on the World Gold Council\u2019s official website<\/a>.<\/p>\n John can currently be seen in the long-awaited This is Spinal Tap sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues<\/a>.
