\nSingapore TV host Lee Teng and his wife Gina Lin spent about S$100,000 (US$78,207) on the delivery of their first child, including hospital and neonatal intensive care costs.\t<\/span><\/p>\n

Lee, 41, and Lin, 32, welcomed their son in July, earlier than the expected due date, according to The Straits Times. The baby was delivered via emergency caesarean section at a private hospital.<\/p>\n

In a YouTube video posted on Sept. 12, the couple detailed the expenses, saying the bill was higher because Lin opted for an A-class ward, required a longer hospital stay, and their newborn was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.<\/p>\n

Lee admitted he was “shocked” upon seeing the bill, emphasizing that the amount was unique to their situation and not representative of typical birthing costs.<\/p>\n

“Basically there’s the doctor’s surgery fee, the anaesthesiologist’s fee, and of course there are other doctor’s fees,” Lee said as quoted by Mothership.<\/p>\n

Lin explained that while a standard caesarean section usually involves a four-day, three-night stay, she remained hospitalized for five days and four nights, which cost about S$30,000.<\/p>\n

Their baby’s NICU care added another S$65,000. Including prenatal check-ups, the total exceeded S$100,000, though some costs were covered by healthcare schemes.<\/p>\n

“At that moment, I only wanted my baby to be healthy and for me to deliver him safely. I didn\u2019t think about anything else,” Lin said, as quoted by The Straits Times.<\/p>\n

Lee agreed, adding that his family\u2019s well-being mattered most and the money can be earned back.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
