Mel B “didn’t expect any” of her Spice Girls bandmates to attend her double wedding.
The 50-year-old pop star married married Rory McPhee at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral in July and she then enjoyed a three-day second wedding at Selman Marrakech in Morocco in August. Her bandmate Emma Bunton attended the London ceremony while Mel C turned up for the bash in Morocco, and Mel has now admitted she was thrilled they were there because she didn’t think any former members of the girl group would make it.
She told the celebrity.land: “I didn\u2019t expect any of them to come, to be honest, because it was a very intimate, private thing, and I know everybody\u2019s busy.
“[Victoria Beckham] was busy and she sent me lots of gifts [and] Geri Horner was] off with Formula 1 …
“Everyone\u2019s doing their own thing … They all sent me well-wishes and we had lovely FaceTimes, but I didn\u2019t expect any of them to turn up. So when they [Emma Bunton and Mel C] were there, I was like: ‘Oh, wow!'”
Mel went on to explain she didn’t know who had submitted an RSVP to her wedding invitations because she left her husband in charge of the guest list.
She added: “I didn\u2019t want to get bombarded with the wedding guest list.
“I was like, \u2018Rory, my ADHD is on fire. I\u2019m still sorting out my dress. You deal with that [guest list]. Here\u2019s my list of who I want to come. Figure it out.”
Mel also revealed why she chose Morocco as the destination for her second ceremony explaining it was the last place she travelled with her father before his death in 2017.
She said: “That was the last place that I had a holiday with my dad before he died. It\u2019s a very special place to me.”
Mel previously opened up about having her bandmate Mel C at her second wedding along with her boyfriend Chris Dingwall – admitting they “had the best time” together.
She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “It was great to have my fellow northerner Mel C there.
“We had the best time together and totally forgot ourselves and went crazy when Holler came on. We\u2019ve grown up together, all my family love her and to share that weekend with her and her lovely partner Chris was so special.”
Mel wore a sheer red Justin Alexander gown – which took six people more than 850 hours to make thanks to its hand-beaded detail – paired with a Moroccan-inspired cathedral veil because she wanted to look like a “floating mermaid”.
She explained: “As the sun went down, I wanted to look like a floating mermaid \u2013 a fiery red passionate one \u2013 gliding in ruby diamonds. “Morocco has that very red va-va-voom \u2013 it\u2019s passionate and spiritual.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
