Bruce Willis<\/strong> and his wife, Emma Heming Willis<\/strong>, have a new way of communicating.<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Times<\/em><\/a> on Saturday, September 13, Emma, 47, opened up about one of the ways she and the Die Hard<\/em> actor, 70, are working through his dementia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBruce and I now have our own language, our own way to be with each other,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just about sitting with him, walking with him, listening to him as he tries to verbalise in his own language,\u201d she explained. \u201cHearing him, validating him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mom of two \u2014 who shares daughters Mabel<\/strong>, 13, and Evelyn<\/strong>, 11, with the Golden Globe Award winner \u2014 said she and Bruce still \u201chave these moments of connection all the time,\u201d regardless of his neurodegenerative disease.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo I think he knows, \u2018Oh, this is Emma, and we\u2019ve been married for this many years\u2019? I don\u2019t know what that process is for him,\u201d she admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he puts his arms around me, it just feels like Bruce. It\u2019s not different in that way,\u201d Emma shared. \u201cAnd that\u2019s really, really beautiful and really, really heartbreaking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week, Emma released her book The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path<\/em>, and discussed how she can\u2019t ask Bruce questions<\/a> about his well-being outright.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t ask him how he\u2019s feeling, what\u2019s wrong, or if something hurts,\u201d she wrote, per The Times<\/em>. \u201cInstead I read his body language or look into his eyes to understand what\u2019s bothering him and what he\u2019s experiencing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pulp Fiction<\/em> star was diagnosed with Frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia in 2022. He publicly came forward with his diagnosis in February 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
