Oxford actress Emma Watson’s final film prior to her break from acting is out now on Netflix.<\/p>\n

The actress\u00a0is well known for her\u00a0iconic role as Hermione Granger in all eight of the wizarding world’s films.<\/p>\n

She is now studying at Oxford University, in the city where she\u00a0grew up, having opted to study\u00a0a Master\u2019s degree in creative writing in September 2023.<\/p>\n

It was announced in February that Ms Watson had switched to a DPhil, which is Oxford’s version of a PhD.<\/p>\n

When she took on her new role in academia, the 35-year-old left acting in the past for the moment, having not appeared in a film since 2019.<\/p>\n

This movie was Greta Gerwig’s remake of Little Women, which also starred fellow Oxford actress Florence Pugh in a star-studded line-up.<\/p>\n

The timeless literary classic, which was written by Louisa May Alcott in 1868, tells the tale of sisters Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy as they journey from adolescence to adulthood.<\/p>\n

Ms Watson stars as Meg, and Ms Pugh plays Amy, while Saoirse Ronan and Eliza Scanlen play Jo and Beth, respectively.<\/p>\n

Regarded by many as the best adaptation to date, 2019’s Little Women is now available to stream on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Financial Times, Ms Watson explained taking a step away from acting for now.<\/p>\n

“I think I felt a bit caged,” said Ms Watson in 2023.<\/p>\n

“The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over.<\/p>\n

“I’m happy to sit and wait for the next right thing.<\/p>\n

“I love what I do. It’s finding a way to do it where I don’t have to fracture myself into different faces and people.<\/p>\n

“And I just don’t want to switch into robot mode anymore. Does that make sense?”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
