Bill Mumy<\/strong> picked the perfect song to play in honor of the 60th anniversary of Lost in Space. The former child star, who played Will Robinson on the 1960s sci-fi series, took to Instagram<\/a> on Sept. 15 to play a cover of the Byrds classic \u201cMr. Spaceman.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMONDAY MORNING MUMY MUSIC MOMENT,\u201d he captioned the clip. \u201c\u2019MR. Sept. 15 marked the 60th anniversary of the debut of Lost in Space.<\/p>\n Fans reacted in the comment section, with some wishing Mumy a happy anniversary in honor of the show that made him famous.<\/p>\n Others noted that they remembered Mumy performing \u201cMr. Spaceman\u201d in the past.<\/p>\n \u201cI recall you doing this on Mike Douglas, I think. One of those daytime talk shows,\u201d one fan wrote.<\/p>\n From Sept. 15, 1965, to March 6, 1968, Mumy played Will Robinson on Lost inSpace. His character was part of a pioneering family of space colonists played by Guy Williams, June Lockhart, Marta Kristen, <\/strong>and Angela Cartwright.<\/strong><\/p>\n Mumy went on to become a frequent fixture on classic TV, with guest roles on The Munsters, The Rockford Files, I Dream of Jeannie, and more.<\/p>\n As a child star, he also made the rounds as an aspiring musician. On Instagram, he shared a photo<\/a> from his first-ever solo gig at the Hollywood Bowl. \u201cBeen somewhat downhill ever since,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n Mumy has worked with everyone from Brian Wilson <\/strong>to Shaun Cassidy<\/strong> and was a member of the duo Barnes & Barnes of \u201cFish Heads\u201d fame. He has also released several solo albums.<\/p>\n While he segued his career into music, Mumy has said that he lived out his dreams as a child actor on Lost in Space.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery child has a gift, and mine from an early age was being able to easily memorize a script and deliver the dialogue believably,\u201d he told Tinseltown Talks<\/a> in an interview. \u201cI loved being little superhero Will Robinson.
