Malaysia-born Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-liang<\/a>, who won the Golden Lion at Venice for \u201cVive L\u2019Amour<\/a>,\u201d will shoot and present the next in his series of \u201cWalker<\/a>\u201d films at the 29th Ji.hlava Film Festival (Oct. 24 to Nov. 2).<\/p>\n

Tsai<\/a> won the Special Jury Prize in 1997 in Berlin for \u201cThe River<\/a>,\u201d and the Berlin Silver Bear and the Alfred Bauer Prize in 2005 for \u201cThe Wayward Cloud<\/a>.\u201d He competed in Cannes with \u201cThe Hole<\/a>\u201d in 1998, \u201cWhat Time Is It There?<\/a>\u201d in 2001, and \u201cFace<\/a>\u201d in 2009.<\/p>\n

Tsai received Ji.hlava\u2019s award for contribution to cinema last year.<\/p>\n

Ji.hlava director Marek Hovorka<\/a> said, \u201cWe are delighted that [Tsai\u2019s] visit to last year\u2019s festival inspired him to shoot a film for his acclaimed series. It is a great honor for Ji.hlava as a festival and for the Czech Republic, which will thus join Hong Kong, Malaysia, France and the USA, where [he] shot the previous parts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
