After fathering 12 children, Nick Cannon is having quite the epiphany on his choices.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While discussing his failed marriage with pop icon Mariah Carey, Cannon \u2014 who was a guest on \u201cThe Breakfast Club\u201d on Monday<\/a> \u2014 said he\u2019s in a \u201clearning\u201d period and explained how his past \u201ctrauma\u201d played a role in having as many kids as he does.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI know it all started from a place of pain, and not really healing properly,\u201d Cannon revealed. \u201cBecause I had access to everything, so I just allowed that to cloud my decision making.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cSo you think having all those kids was a response to your trauma?\u201d host Charlamagne Tha God asked the actor. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cannon responded: \u201cYeah\u2026 I\u2019m learning that now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t like I was acting out, It was more of being careless, being frivolous of my process because I could do it,\u201d he continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He went on to say his \u201caccess\u201d as a celebrity figure <\/span>played a significant role in his journey as a father of many. Cannon acknowledged that in hindsight, he lacked maturity. He said he never intended to have a dozen children, but adopted a carefree approach that led him to his current outcome. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBeing almost 45 now, I can sit back\u2026 If I would have thought the process through a little bit more and took time to actually do the inner work, things might have been a little different in certain scenarios,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When asked if he would still have 12 children, Cannon emphasized the love he has for them \u2014 but returned to the idea of doing \u201cthe work\u201d to heal from his past divorce from Carey.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
