While Dancing With the Stars<\/em> is a fun dance competition, it is also a job \u2014 and the professional dancers and stars are getting paid for their time.<\/p>\n

Earlier this summer, pro Jenna Johnson<\/strong> \u2014 who first joined the show in 2014 as a troupe dancer and was promoted to a pro in 2016 \u2014 shared details on how payment works.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re guaranteed until a certain amount of weeks,\u201d Johnson, 31, explained on a June episode of The Morning After <\/a><\/em>podcast. \u201cI think there\u2019s different contracts though. I can\u2019t speak for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo if you make it all the way to the end, you\u2019re getting paid the whole season, which is amazing,\u201d she shared. \u201cAnd you get a bonus on top of that for making it to the finale.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the Utah native \u2014 who has won the show twice \u2014 noted that there\u2019s no grand prize for taking home the crown.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you win, it\u2019s not like you win $1 million and split it with your partner,\u201d she said. \u201cYou\u2019re just getting a cute trophy together.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the celebrities, sources told Variety<\/a><\/em> in 2019 that the stars make $125,000 when they sign on for the show, which includes the rehearsal period and their first two weeks on air. After that, they can earn more money as the weeks go on, with the most being $295,000, per Variety\u2019s<\/em> sources.<\/p>\n

The Season 34 premiere of DWTS<\/em> airs on Tuesday, September 16, on ABC and Disney+ at 8:00 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
