\n\tWicked<\/a>: For Good The Soundrack<\/em> is hitting shelves the same day as the film\u2019s theatrical release, Republic Records and Verve Records announced Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe album, which will be released on Nov. 21, will feature songs from act two of the stage musical and second part of the feature film adaptation by Jon M. Chu, along with three new additions. Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz has written two new songs for film\u2019s finale, which will be featured on the soundtrack alongside a previously unreleased song from the original Broadway musical. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe two new songs are \u201cNo Place Like Home,\u201d performed by Cynthia Erivo<\/a> as Elphaba, and \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble,\u201d performed by Ariana Grande<\/a> as Glinda. \u201cThe Wicked Witch of the East,\u201d which has always been part of the stage musical but was not included on the Broadway cast recordings, will also be featured on the soundtrack and will be sung by Marissa Bode, Erivo and Ethan Slater.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m especially happy that the soundtrack album for Wicked: For Good<\/a> <\/em>has so much new music<\/a> on it. In addition to two brand new songs, there is a lot that\u2019s new in several other existing songs,\u201d Schwartz said in a statement. \u201cNot only listeners coming to the score for the first time, but long-time fans of the original Broadway cast album, will have a great deal to discover.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWicked: For Good <\/em>features some of the stage musical\u2019s biggest moments including Glinda\u2019s beginning of the act song, \u201cThank Goodness \/ I Couldn\u2019t Happier,\u201d Elphaba\u2019s \u201cNo Good Deed\u201d and the iconic duet from which the film\u2019s name comes from, \u201cFor Good.\u201d The tracklist also included \u201cEvery Day More Wicked,\u201d \u201cWonderful,\u201d \u201cI\u2019m Not That Girl (Reprise),\u201d \u201cAs Long As You\u2019re Mine\u201d and \u201cMarch of the Witch Hunters.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe soundtrack, which is available for pre-order<\/a>, is being released in several formats including CD, double vinyl, double picture disc and digital. Target, Amazon, Walmart and Barnes and Noble will all have exclusive versions of the album.<\/p>\n

\n\tWicked:<\/em> For Good<\/em> \u2014 the official title was announced<\/a> Dec. 16 \u2014 will see the witches of Oz, Grande\u2019s Galinda, aka Glinda the Good Witch, and Erivo\u2019s Elphaba, aka the Wicked Witch of the West, continuing where the story ended with the first film.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe second act of Wicked<\/em>\u2018s stage musical takes a darker turn from the bright poppy moments in the first act. \u201cDefying Gravity,\u201d in both the stage musical and film, serves as the moment that Elphaba \u201ctransforms\u201d into the Wicked Witch of the West that Wizard of Oz<\/em> fans know, with the added context that the Wizard and her mentor, Madame Morrible, played in the film by Michelle Yeoh, respectively, have branded her \u201cwicked\u201d after she refused to help their plot to strip rights away from the animals in Oz. Elphaba and Glinda, who spent the first act and film becoming friends against all odds, go their separate ways as Elphaba chooses to rebel against the Wizard and Glinda stays behind.<\/p>\n

\n\tSchwartz had previously confirmed to THR<\/em><\/a> that new songs were expected for the film\u2019s second part. \u201cThey were written because they were necessary for the storytelling. It\u2019s why there isn\u2019t a new song in the first movie because we didn\u2019t need one,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019re an important part of the story.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
