\n\tA release date for \u201cWicked: For Good<\/a> \u2014 The Soundtrack\u201d was announced Wednesday morning, and with it, intriguing news of not just one but two songs that were written especially for the forthcoming film by Stephen Schwartz<\/a>. Leading ladies Cynthia Erivo<\/a> and Ariana Grande<\/a> both get new solo numbers with these additions.<\/p>\n \n\tThe two songs written by Schwartz for the second film are \u201cNo Place Like Home,\u201d performed by Erivo as Elphaba, and \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble,\u201d performed by Grande as Glinda.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cNo Place Like Home\u201d and \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble\u201d are expected to be Oscar-eligible, unlike any of the songs from the first movie, which had added verses but did not feature any completely new songs.<\/p>\n \n\tDon\u2019t expect to necessarily hear these new songs before viewers nationwide get their first crack at hearing them within the context of the film. The \u201cWicked: for Good\u201d soundtrack album will be out Nov. 21, which is also the opening date for the movie.<\/p>\n \n\tOn top of the two freshly penned songs, Schwartz is promising additional material that has been incorporated into the more familiar songs that have been carried over from Act II of the stage musical.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m especially happy that the soundtrack album for \u2018Wicked: For Good\u2019 has so much new music on it,\u201d Schwartz said in a statement. \u201cIn addition to two brand new songs, there is a lot that\u2019s new in several other existing songs.\u00a0So not only listeners coming to the score for the first time, but long-time fans of the original Broadway cast album, will have a great deal to discover.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tSchwartz had previously revealed that he was writing a brand new song for the second movie, but fans should still be surprised that they\u2019re getting two. The composer-songwriter had also mentioned in interviews for the first movie that the second would have him bringing back some material that was cut during development of the stage version, due to not wanting to slow down the accelerating dramatic momentum of the second act.<\/p>\n \n\tAnother song included on the new album is \u201cThe Wicked Witch of the East,\u201d sung by Marissa Bode, Erivo and Ethan Slater. This song was included in the stage musical but not included on the original cast album at the time.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cEvery Day More Wicked,\u201d which opens the soundtrack album, is a title not found in the stage version of \u201cWicked,\u201d although that phrase occurs in the lyrics of \u201cThank Goodness,\u201d so producers may be considering it an outgrowth of that number, as opposed to an all-new song.<\/p>\n \n\tScroll down to see the full 11-song track list for the soundtrack. <\/p>\n \n\tAct II of \u201cWicked\u201d always had fewer signature standout numbers for the cast than Act I, as well as just fewer songs in general \u2014 although, obviously, the climactic \u201cFor Good\u201d is up there in the repertoire right alongside \u201cDefying Gravity,\u201d enough so to have been added as a subtitle for the film. New solo numbers for Grande and Erivo will go some way in adding not just heft to the score but, presumably, additional balladic gravity.<\/p>\n
