18 years after Gilmore Girls<\/a><\/strong> premiered its final episode on The CW, Lauren Graham<\/strong>, who played the self-reliant\u00a0Lorelai Gilmore on the show, has spoken about an idea for a movie that would feature a much-awaited reunion of the original cast. In a recent interview, the Parenthood alum revealed that she has been thinking about the possibility of making a Gilmore Girls film for a long time, while also describing the basic setting for such a project in the process.<\/p>\n During her recent red carpet appearance at the 2025\u00a0Emmy Awards, Lauren Graham had a brief discussion with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> about a potential Gilmore Girls reunion. During the conversation, Graham stated that a Downton Abbey-esque film would be a great way to bring the iconic comedy drama back.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought we were done with that conversation, and I realized we are not. But I\u2019ve been saying for a long time what I could see making sense is a\u00a0Christmas movie\u00a0in the tradition of\u00a0Downton Abbey\u00a0or those other kinds of shows that are over but then kind of come together, especially around the holidays. I think that would be very\u00a0Gilm<\/span>ore-friendly,\u201d Graham noted.<\/p>\n She then supported her reasoning by stating that the US does not have \u201cenough holiday programming,\u201d before clarifying that \u201cfootball is not holiday programming.\u201d<\/p>\n After concluding its seven-season run in 2007, Gilmore Girls returned for a four-part miniseries, subtitled\u00a0A Year in the Life, in 2016 via Netflix. While it remains unclear if a Gilmore Girls movie will happen anytime in the near future, a documentary about the series is currently in the works.
