\n\tEXCLUSIVE: <\/strong>Evoke Entertainment<\/a>, the management and production company formerly known as Cartel Entertainment, has signed director Rod Lurie<\/a> (The Outpost<\/em>) for representation.<\/p>\n \n\tA West Point graduate and former journalist, Lurie\u2019s filmography includes The Contender<\/em>, a political drama which earned Oscar nominations for Joan Allen and Jeff Bridges, as well as The Last Castle<\/em>, starring the late Robert Redford and James Gandolfini, Nothing But the Truth<\/em>, Resurrecting the Champ<\/em>, Screen Gems\u2019 2011 remake of the Sam Peckinpah classic Straw Dogs<\/em>, and the Afghanistan war drama The Outpost<\/em>, starring Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, and Orlando Bloom.<\/p>\n \n\tOn the television side, Lurie created the Golden Globe\u2013winning Commander in Chief<\/em>, starring Geena Davis, and the FBI drama Line of Fire<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tLurie\u2019s latest film, The Senior<\/em>, an inspirational sports drama starring Michael Chiklis, will be released nationwide this weekend through Angel Studios and Wayfarer Studios. Produced by Mark Ciardi, the film is based on the true story of Mike Flynt, a star college football player who returned to the gridiron at age 59, decades after a fist fight with a teammate led to his expulsion from Texas\u2019 Sul Ross State University.<\/p>\n \n\tCurrently, Lurie is in post on a WWII film titled Lucky Strike<\/em>, which stars Eastwood and Colin Hanks.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cRod is a filmmaker with conviction\u2014his work challenges, provokes, and ultimately elevates,\u201d said Evoke\u2019s Head of Motion Picture Literary, Ryan Saul. \u201cThe Contender<\/em> remains one of the most powerful political dramas of the last quarter-century.
