And, in Yarmouth Port, we visit with the man who can be found making lunch most days at his family\u2019s century-old store.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"600\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\" momentum=\"\"\/>\n<p>There is also news of visiting musicians from Nashville playing this week at The Daily Brew. And foodies may want to make a ferry reservation now for Nantucket\u2019s Restaurant Week at the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>Also in food this week, we have <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.capecodtimes.com\/story\/entertainment\/dining\/2025\/09\/19\/best-meatballs-cape-cod-ma-hyannis-poll-restaurants\/86038535007\/\">results of our meatball poll<\/a>. With 389 votes in, Colombo\u2019s Cafe &amp; Pastries earned a commanding 70% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>From the ICYMI (in case you missed it) department, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.capecodtimes.com\/story\/entertainment\/dining\/2025\/09\/10\/cape-cod-restaurants-news-brewster-ma-spinnakers-for-sale-snowy-owl\/86038503007\/\">we reported last week<\/a> on a popular Brewster restaurant going on the market and on Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters flying down the street to a new location, not far from the original Brewster coffeehouse that opened 10 years ago. Husband-and-wife owners Shayna Ferullo and Manuel Ainzuain gave away hot and cold-brewed coffee to celebrate the Sept. 5 anniversary.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"390\" outstream=\"\"\/><partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" class=\"spacer-large\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2 wp-block-heading\">New restaurant, Hooked Bar &amp; Grill, opens in Falmouth<\/h2>\n<p>After what seemed like months of anticipation \u2015 and a couple of days of a soft opening with family and friends \u2015 <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hookedbarandgrill.com\/\">Hooked Bar &amp; Grill<\/a> announced it would open to the public Sept. 17.\u00a0 The new restaurant is located at 153 Main St. in Falmouth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to check it out and support our new business neighbors. Come grab some yummy seafood at Hooked and stop by our store for coastal jewels while you\u2019re downtown! They\u2019re located to the immediate left if you\u2019re walking into our shop,\u201d wrote The Gilded Oyster in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n<partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"\/><cta-atoms-container-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/cta\" class=\"spacer-large\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Hooked is in the building formerly occupied by Cupcake Charlie\u2019s in Falmouth.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Moon Sea Grille, Inc. d\/b\/a Hooked, reported in a separate Facebook post that it had received its liquor license and that guests were allowed to BYOB beer or wine to have with dinner for just a few days, until Friday, Sept. 19, when the bar at Hooked will be fully stocked and open for business.<\/p>\n<p>Late last month, &#8220;Hooked&#8221; collected old fishing lures for two days. We can&#8217;t wait to see those in the decor.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"600\" outstream=\"\" momentum=\"\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2 wp-block-heading\">Restaurant editor visits Hallet Store for chowder and blueberry ice cream<\/h2>\n<p>Charles Clark must say \u201cMy mother was a Hallet\u201d a dozen times a day as he hustles around Hallet Store making sandwiches, scooping ice cream and dishing up history in the 136-year-old store at 139 Old King\u2019s Highway in Yarmouth Port.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and we can\u2019t forget the chowder: The family recipe has been professionally canned for years and you can still buy it ($19.95 for a quart of concentrate) from grocery shelves around Hallet\u2019s. Just add milk or cream to make a creamy New England-style chowder. Clark said it\u2019s no longer cost-efficient for him to make the ice cream as he once did, but he picks the flavors very carefully \u2015 taste-testing the goods and using more than one supplier to get the best lineup.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"390\" outstream=\"\"\/><partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" class=\"spacer-large\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<p>The high-top stools at the ice cream bar have been taken out but there are a half-dozen tables at which to enjoy lunch or ice cream. I stopped by last week because on a few previous visits, Hallet\u2019s Store had been closed.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out that Clark, who runs the place himself, had knee surgery. But he is back in the store where he has worked for 50 years. Despite being busy, Clark offers up the store mascot \u2015 a stuffed bear named Hadley \u2015 for photos and sends most customers home with a piece of history in the form of a handwritten receipt from one of his ancestors&#8217; battle with the town over changes to Route 6A. You can also buy a book about the Hallet Store\u2019s time as the town\u2019s first pharmacy and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so nice to see places like this, to go back in time to when we were kids and would get ice cream\u00a0here,\u201d said Priscilla (Gibbs) Balatgek, who grew up in Dennis but was visiting from her current home in New York.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2 wp-block-heading\">Nashville comes to Martha&#8217;s Vineyard \u2015 and Cape Cod<\/h2>\n<p>There are two country-themed shows this week as part of Behind the Curtain at <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedailybrewlounge.com\/\">The Daily Brew Coffeehouse &amp; Lounge, 412 North Falmouth Highway<\/a> in Falmouth.
