Exclusive: Following the success of Weapons<\/a>, writer-director Zach Cregger<\/a> is getting the wheels in motion for his next horror thriller. Sources tell Deadline that Paul Walter Hauser<\/a> is set to join Austin Abrams<\/a> in Cregger\u2019s new adaptation of Resident Evil<\/a> for Sony Pictures<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cregger is directing the film, which is based on Capcom\u2019s popular horror video games. He also co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Constantin Film<\/a> is producing and co-financing the pic. Constantin\u2019s Robert Kulzer<\/a> will produce as will Vertigo Entertainment<\/a>\u2019s Roy Lee<\/a> and Miri Yoon<\/a> and PlayStation Productions<\/a>\u2019 Asad Qizilbash<\/a> and Carter Swan<\/a>. Constantin and Davis Films<\/a>\u2019 Victor Hadida<\/a> are executive producing. TriStar Pictures<\/a> president Nicole Brown<\/a> is overseeing for Sony<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Plot details on this pic are under wraps, but the previous Resident Evil movies were a mix of horror, sci-fi and action and followed the adventures of a heroine who fights zombies and the Umbrella Corporation,…<\/p>\n
