Producer Sidney \u201cOmen\u201d Brown, who has worked with the likes of Beyonc\u00e9, Drake and more, has died at the age of 49. <\/p>\n
According to NBC News<\/a>, Brown\u2019s body was discovered in his New York apartment on Saturday by his sister, Nicole Iris Brown, after he didn\u2019t show up for a DJ gig. <\/p>\n \u201cHe was holistic and healthy. So, we don\u2019t know of him being sick, so this is all pretty sudden,\u201d Omen\u2019s sister said in a statement. \u201cI hope people will remember that he was willing to help the younger generation.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe was always big on helping younger people start their careers and get themselves into the game. It was about just the music, no matter who the artist was,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n \u201cThe cause and manner of death are pending further study,\u201d the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner told Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n Born in Harlem in 1976, Brown was a producer on early Roc-A-Fella releases by Memphis Bleek and Amil around the turn of the century. He earned production credits on Memphis Bleek\u2019s \u201cComing of Age\u201d debut as well as Fabolous\u2019 \u201cStreet Dreams\u201d album hits \u201cChange You or Change Me\u201d and \u201cWhy Wouldn\u2019t I\u201d in 2003. <\/p>\n He also crafted the score for the Roc-A-Fella\/Universal Pictures film \u201cPaper Soldiers\u201d from 2002. <\/p>\n Brown later went on to produce the smash hit \u201cTell It Like It Is\u201d from Ludacris\u2019 Grammy-winning 2006 album, \u201cRelease Therapy.\u201d <\/p>\n The hit producer found himself around Young Money when he teamed up with OVO\u2019s Noah \u201c40\u201d Shebib to produce \u201cShut It Down,\u201d featuring The Dream, on Drake\u2019s \u201cThank Me Later\u201d debut album in 2010. He collaborated with Shebib again to co-produce Lil Wayne\u2019s hit \u201cI\u2019m Single,\u201d which went to No. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100. <\/p>\n In 2013, Brown co-produced Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cMine,\u201d featuring Drake, from her self-titled album.
