Sony Pictures has finally found the second actor who will join the Resident Evil<\/a><\/strong> cast for Zach Cregger\u2019s upcoming horror reboot of the blockbuster film franchise. The untitled movie is currently set to arrive in theaters on September 18, 2026.<\/p>\n According to Deadline, Golden Globe Award winner Paul Walter Hauser has signed on to star opposite Weapons star Austin Abrams in the Resident Evil reboot. Hauser recently made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, where he played the role of Mole Man. At the moment, Abrams and Hauser\u2019s characters are still under wraps.<\/p>\n The new Resident Evil movie will be directed by Cregger, who co-wrote the screenplay with Army of the Dead and John Wick: Chapter 4 scribe Shay Hatten. The film is produced by Robert Kulzer for Constantin, Vertigo Entertainment\u2019s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon, along with PlayStation Productions\u2019 Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan. TriStar Pictures president Nicole Brown has been tapped to oversee the project on behalf of Columbia Pictures. It is a production by Constantin Film and PlayStation Productions, with Constantin and Davis Films\u2019 Victor Hadida serving as an executive producer.<\/p>\n Plot details remained unknown, but a recent rumor<\/a> claimed that the story may center around an organ courier who is on a delivery route to Raccoon City General Hospital. In a previous interview, Cregger confirmed that his adaptation won\u2019t feature any original characters from the games.<\/p>\n \u201cI am the biggest worshiper of the games, so I\u2019m telling a story that is a love letter to the games and follows the rules of the games,\u201d Cregger said (via Inverse<\/a>). \u201cIt is obedient to the lore of the games, it\u2019s just a different story.
