Celebrities including actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and Giants greats Eli Manning and Michael Strahan will face off next week at Bethpage Black before the pros compete for the PGA Ryder Cup.<\/p>\n
Just like the PGA golfers set to compete next week, two teams of American and European celebrities and former athletes will face off in a shortened tournament Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the Bethpage Black course in Farmingdale, according to the PGA.<\/p>\n
The teams, each comprised of eight members, will compete two-on-two over 10 holes in a format known as a scramble. The winning two-person team can earn one point for each hole.<\/p>\n
Teams can win up to 10 points per match and a team that wins 20 \u00bd points during the tournament can declare victory.<\/p>\n
The American team will be helmed by Manning, Strahan, country music artists Kane Brown and Miranda Lambert, celebrity chef Bobby Flay, folk musician Noah Kahan, Saturday Night Live comedian Colin Jost and tennis legend John McEnroe.<\/p>\n
They will face off against a European team led by Zeta-Jones, British model Brooklyn Beckham, Harry Potter actors Tom Felton and Oliver Phelps, NBA basketball players Pau Gasol and Toni Kukoc, hockey plater Teemu Sel\u00e4nne and celebrity chef and philanthropist Jose Andres<\/p>\n
The celebrity matches will begin at 7:45 a.m. Sept. 24 on Hole No. at Bethpage Black during a 10-hole scramble format including holes 15, 16, 17, and 18. The final hole will be played twice, followed by a trophy for the winning team on the 18th green.<\/p>\n
Scoring for the matches will be listed on Rydercup.com<\/p>\n
Celebrities and stars from other sports play\u00a0in other major golf tournaments such as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am,\u00a0which was won this year by Ryder Cup European golfer Rory McIlroy. Gasol also competed in the Pro-Am.<\/p>\n
