The announcement came on the 40th anniversary of the original video game, which is September 13, 2025, with the release of the teaser. The clip featured Mario sleeping under a tree, and the point of view follows the gorgeous yellow butterfly. As the creature moved, the audience saw quick glimpses of Monty Mole burrowing underground, Cheep Cheeps swimming in a stream, and Toads hustling around the castle, according to Variety.
