Anne was exceptionally well-educated for a woman of her time, studying the Bible, learning Latin and Hebrew, and developing a deep understanding of Protestant theology. <\/p>\n<p>Her outspoken criticism of the Catholic Church, particularly the doctrine of transubstantiation, brought her into conflict with religious authorities during the reign of Henry VIII. In 1545, she was arrested and interrogated, enduring the torture of the rack yet refusing to recant her beliefs or betray fellow reformers. <\/p>\n<p>Anne was burned at the stake at Smithfield in 1546, at the age of twenty-five.
