Joy Behar of \u201cThe View\u201d has a message for attendees of the popular talk show who aren\u2019t vaccinated. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n On Tuesday\u2019s show, co-host Whoopi Goldberg cited new findings<\/a> from The Washington Post about child vaccination rates.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThis is so crazy, but as cold and flu season arrive, a new Washington Post poll found that 1 in 6 American parents are rejecting vaccine recommendations,\u201d the 69-year-old told the audience. \u201cThe majority of parents still support immunizations, but there\u2019s been a declining trust in childhood vaccines since the pandemic. When did people stop trusting their pediatricians? That\u2019s the person who has your baby.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Flabbergasted by the poll results, Goldberg shifted her focus to the audience to conduct an impromptu survey. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cCan I just ask one question?\u201d she stated. \u201cEverybody that has been vaccinated in this audience, just put your hands up.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The panel noted that \u201ceveryone\u201d raised their hands, prompting the EGOT winner to say, \u201cAnd you\u2019re all still alive. I\u2019m just checking.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Sunny Hostin began to call the statistic \u201cterrifying,\u201d but before she could finish, Behar said, \u201cIf you\u2019re not [vaccinated], don\u2019t come back.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThere\u2019s this notion out there that, \u2018I don\u2019t have to get vaccinated because everyone else is vaccinated, and there will be this herd immunity,\u2019\u201d Hostin said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n However, she explained that in order to achieve \u201cherd immunity,\u201d 95% of the population needs to be vaccinated \u2014 yet currently, \u201cthere are only 92% of kids that are immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, polio.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cDo you know how many children can become severely ill or perhaps, god forbid, die? And we know now that global immunization efforts have saved an estimated 154 million lives. That\u2019s six lives every minute,\u201d Hostin said. \u201cNinety-five percent of those lives are children.
