ABC aired a rerun episode of \u201cCelebrity Family Feud\u201d in place of Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s\u00a0axed late night talk show<\/a>\u00a0Wednesday night \u2013 and will play \u201ca special in remembrance\u201d of Charlie Kirk during the coveted time slot on Sinclair\u2019s affiliate stations starting Friday.<\/p>\n The station pulled \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d off the air \u201cindefinitely\u201d following the comedian\u2019s controversial comments about\u00a0the killing of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk<\/a>.<\/p>\n During the 11:35 p.m. time slot \u2014 where a suited-up Kimmel typically interviews celebrity guests, delivers comedic monologues, and hosts musical performances \u2014 two teams of celebrities played the Family Feud survey game with host Steve Harvey.<\/p>\n Actor Rob Lowe and \u201cThe Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox\u201d star Grace Van Patten were slated to appear on Kimmel\u2019s show Wednesday night, with a musical performance by Margo Price.<\/p>\n Sinclair, the nation\u2019s largest ABC affiliate conglomerate,\u00a0announced in a statement<\/a>\u00a0that their ABC stations \u201cwill air a special in remembrance of Charlie Kirk\u201d this Friday during Kimmel\u2019s time slot, and will continue to offer the special \u201cacross all Sinclair stations this weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n Kimmel, 57, faced backlash after he said Monday night that the\u00a0\u201cMAGA gang\u201d was trying to score political points<\/a>\u00a0off Kirk\u2019s murder after the\u00a0conservative activist was shot dead<\/a>\u00a0on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah on Sept. 10.<\/p>\n \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,\u201d Kimmel said during his monologue.<\/p>\n The broadcast group affirmed they would not lift the suspension of Kimmel\u2019s show until formal discussions are held with ABC \u201cregarding the network\u2019s commitment to professionalism and accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n Sinclair has also called on the talk show host to issue a \u201cdirect apology\u201d to the Kirk family and make a \u201cmeaningful\u201d personal donation to them and Kirk\u2019s conservative group Turning Point USA.<\/p>\n \u201cMr. Kimmel\u2019s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country,\u201d Vice Chairman Jason Smith said in a statement.<\/p>\n \u201cWe believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities.
