Written and directed by Edward Burns<\/a>, \u201cThe Family McMullen<\/a>\u201d takes place 30 years after the original indie hit \u201cThe Brothers McMullen<\/a>\u201d premiered in 1995. \u201cThe Brothers McMullen<\/a>\u201d explored the lives and struggles of three Irish American brothers from New York.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Family McMullen<\/a>\u201d stars Connie Britton<\/a> and Michael McGlone<\/a>, reprising their roles from \u201cThe Brothers McMullen<\/a>,\u201d alongside Tracee Ellis Ross<\/a>, Juliana Canfield<\/a> (\u201cSuccession<\/a>\u201d), Pico Alexander<\/a>, Brian d\u2019Arcy James<\/a> (\u201cSpotlight<\/a>\u201d) and Halston Sage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The sequel \u201ctracks the romantic entanglements of a now 50something Barry McMullen<\/a> (Burns<\/a>) and his 20something kids, as well as his brother Patrick (McGlone) and widowed sister-in-law Molly (Britton), who are also facing unexpected romantic hurdles,\u201d according to the synopsis.<\/p>\n
