Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/a> aired just two episodes this week before ABC pulled it off the air<\/a> amid criticism over host Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s remarks about late conservative political activist Charlie Kirk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Kimmel, 57, welcomed the likes of Last Week Tonight<\/em> host John Oliver<\/strong> and Rob Lowe<\/strong><\/a> on Monday, September 15, and Tuesday, September 16, respectively, before ABC announced the show was indefinitely \u201cpre-empted\u201d on Wednesday, September 17. The decision came after Nexstar Media Group, which owns and operates 32 ABC affiliate stations around the U.S., said it would not air Kimmel\u2019s show.<\/p>\n

\u201cJimmy Kimmel Live<\/em> will be pre-empted indefinitely,\u201d an ABC spokesperson confirmed to Us Weekly<\/em> on Wednesday, September 17.<\/p>\n

Earlier Wednesday, Nexstar said in a press release its \u201cowned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will pre-empt Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the foreseeable future, beginning with tonight\u2019s show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMany stars were shocked after news broke that ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s eponymous talk show following the host\u2019s comments about Charlie Kirk\u2019s death. An ABC spokesperson confirmed to Us Weekly on Wednesday, September 17, that \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live! will be pre-empted indefinitely.\u201d The news came in the wake of Kimmel\u2019s remarks about Kirk\u2019s accused murderer, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cNexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

During the Monday episode of his talk show, Kimmel referenced Kirk\u2019s death. \u201cThe MAGA Gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d he said, referring to Tyler Robinson<\/strong>, the suspect arrested and charged<\/a> in relation to Kirk\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Kirk was gunned down during a speaking engagement<\/a> at Utah Valley University on September 10. He was 31.<\/p>\n

Before his show was pulled from the schedules, Kimmel was due to welcome celebrity guests including Wanda Sykes<\/strong> and Chelsea Handler<\/strong> on his show later this week.<\/p>\n
